The point is that there is very little game to MGS4. People bitched and moaned about COD4 being short, but praise a 'game' that can be played in under 4 hours.

And the name calling isn't necessary. It just shows you're too sensitive.

:Q Even on the easiest difficulty, that's crazy. That's like Portal. Speaking of Portal, that's an excellent example of why size doesn't matter.

Portal = AMAZING. They need to make a Portal 2.

NO! I've been waiting for a good single game with no sequels, no spin offs, etc. Having Chell appear in Episode 3 would be cool, though.

Obviously, the first run through took longer because it was your first time through the game and you weren't messing around on easy. There are approximately 6 or 7 hours of cutscenes in the game, which includes the intermissions and unskippable cut scenes. This means that you played for around 15 or 16 hours the first play through.

If you put the game on easy and just breezed through the areas being spotted, shot at, etc, then you are skipping a large part of the game and are, of course, going to have an obscenely short total time. This is called a speed run :Q and is not a good measure of how long a game usually lasts.

For example, there are 7 minute speed runs and many other very short speed runs for other games. Since Morrowind has a 10 minute cutscene in the beginning, this makes the game more cutscenes than gameplay!!

If you look at how few people have the big boss emblem, you will see that beating the game on a not ridiculously easy mode (hard mode, no alerts, kills, continues, etc) under a strict time constraint (5 hours) is a very, VERY difficult task that requires much planning and forethrought.

And you act as if people don't bitch and moan about MGS4's cutscenes, exactly like you are doing. Even before the game came out, people were bitching about MGS4's cutscenes.

You are correct about one thing. The name calling was unnecessary. I apologize, but I found the fact that you called MGS4 "not a game" to be extremely idiotic.

This doesn't mean that you are though, I suppose.

I was going to make that point. $60 for 20 hours of CGI and around 4 hours of playable content. It wasn't a 'game'.

20 hours? Maybe like 4 hours.

And there was more than 4 hours of playtime, buddy.

I'd say there's about 7 hours of cutscenes and 10 hours of "proper" playtime (i.e. actually exploring, enjoying, trying things, not running to exit). If you just run to the exit, then there's about 5 hours. So 2:1 cutscene to gameplay ratio is 'reasonable' if you want to make a point.

As I've stated before, the game can be done in under 4 hours. I'm sure someone can do a speed run closer to 3 hours.

Yeah. He felt insulted and became a little too sensitive to my opinion.

When did I say I cared for MGS4? If you take a peek at the official MGS4 thread, you won't find my name there ever saying such a thing, unlike half of the other posts. Actually, I haven't posted in there since the game came out.

No, I don't care if you don't like MGS4. The game has major flaws; hell, the whole series has it's flaws.

However, I do find it retarded to claim that MGS4 is "not a video game". I'm tired of hearing people who think they are so clever for saying crap such as "enjoy your movie" or "I watched that one already", as if they are the first ones to make such a quick witted comment and they haven't already been repeated a thousand times over.

The fact is, biggestmuff contorted the truth and made ridiculous exaggerations in an attempt to validate his poor trolling.

The game can be completed from start to finish in under 4 hours. Nothing exaggerated about that. Stop being so sensitive.

Stop repeating the same thing.

I've already explained the idea of a speed run and how it doesn't represent the true amount of gameplay. Infact, you admitted through your other post that your first run through took you about 15 or 16 hours of gameplay.

That seems closer to the normal amount.

You can speed run almost anything besides RPG games. I can speed run Halo in less than 4 hours. Still makes it a good game.

Now you're repeating yourself. I didn't do a speed run. I simply played the game on 'Liquid Easy' and skipped everything skippable.

I said it took about 24 hours to play the game as well as to watch all cutscenes and codec conversations on 'Solid Normal'.

I explored quite a bit on my first play through, even found a cool piece of nostalgia from MGS1 in Act 4, so there isn't much to do on the next play-throughs.

I'm just saying that if you look past all the video, there isn't many long durations of gameplay. Act 5 is a great example of this. Bits and pieces of game intermingled with cutscenes.
