I had a flat screen Viewsonic (A75f) before and it was nice, but the screen started to shake and not hold settings, so I switched it out for a Philips. The Philips I have now is good quality and hasn't given me any problems. It is a flat screen, professional series (107P20). I got it because it has one of the highest resolution settings for a 17" screen that I have ever seen. It does 1920 x 1440. Trinitrons are nice too.

Mitsubishi Diamondmax and Sony are good. Also HP, Dell and IBM get theirs made with Trinitron tubes also Sony.

I am considering between NEC FP912SB and Viewsonic P95F+ in black, I want to get two for dual setup, the NEC sells for 300 and Viewsonic for 250, which one of these is better, which company has better customer support.

I bought the Viewsonic P95F+ for someone and got to play around with it for over a week. This monitor ROCKS! It has amazing sharpness and quality for a CRT. Btw, this is essentially a "trinitron" monitor - it's a .24 dot pitch aperture grille, which is basically the exact same thing as many Trinitron monitors.

Viewsonic make some of the most reliable CRT's in the business IMO, and offer a 3 year warranty. I think NEC also offer a 3 year warranty, and also make good tubes (especially the trinitron ones), so it's a tough call.

I got a 19" viewsonic G790 (the first 19" from viewsonic, right when they first came out) for ~$1000 CDN (~$650 US) and it still runs great to this day, 6 years later. I bought a couple of KDS monitors for other machines since then and although they were a good value, one of them died and the other just can't compare to the Viewsonic...

It is a tough call, what makes it tougher is no store that I know (live in LA) have these monitors so I can?t see and check to make sure.
Have to order it through the internet, since I am going to buy two of them I don?t want to make wrong investment they have to last me at least 5 years, so any opinions, suggestions are welcome.

If you had to choose between NEC FP912SB and Viewsonic P95F+ which?

I've always been a Viewsonic fan. My Viewsonic P775 (using it right now) is just as clear and sharp as it was when I got it back in 1998!! I also have one of the first 15 inchers that they made hanging off one of my servers and although the colors are getting kind of washed out now, that monitor has been used every day since I got it back in 1994. I've also setup family members on various Viewsonic models over the years and they've all been happy with them. I've never had one of their monitors fail, so I don't know how good their support is. I have no doubt that you'll get at least 5 years out of them.

I tend to lean towards NEC since I don't really have a very good impression of Viewsonic monitors. I've seen way too many that had fuzzy text and the colors weren't very bright.

I currently own a 19" NEC Multisync FE991SB (black). Personally, I think its great monitor. It has great clarity, overall I've had no problems with it. It's difficult for me to choose between my current monitor and my old one (Viewsonic A75f), other than the fact that my new one is bigger. I'd personally go with whichever brand ends up being cheaper.

Both companies make a full line of professional to economy grade monitors. It is impossible to answer based on such a general statement.
