Which Motherboard to get?

If you were building an A64 rig right now which mobo would you get and why? (either nf4 or nf4 ultra). I've been looking at the DFI NF4 Ultra-D. Never built a computer before so, is this board overly complicated to set up? and have you had any major problems with this board. have the 3/10 bios basically fixed most of the issues it had?

Stick with ASUS and Gigabyte. I know, I know, the DFI has been great in benchmarks and OC'ing, but as far as for a first timer wanting an easy to set up board, stay with ASUS or Gigabyte. Besides from benchmarks, you won't ever notice a difference between the boards' performance. I guarantee you though that some DFI owner will argue my point...

but hey, it's my opinion. It's your choice .

I think the Abit is a good first timer board... easy first time OC'er too, with the uGURU program.

True, although two of my friends have had problems with ABIT. I guess it's just a fluke.

Oh, what problems did they have do you know?

I'd be interested to know as I'm about to pick one up... also what models did they have?

One had an IC-7 Max 3 and the other had an AV8 3rd Eye. The IC-7 wouldn't POST if it's life depended on it, and the AV8 wouldn't work with my friend's Corsair XL memory. They have built several PC's before, and they buy quality parts (PSU). My friend's Corsair would work with any other mobo he tried, but not the ABIT. Like I said, it's probably a fluke, but I really don't know...

Hmmm wierd... I'm not getting either of those models (AV8 Nforce4 is what I'm getting...) not the 3rd eye... probably a fluke but the IC-7 max 3 I don't know.. got me stuck there. Probably a messed up board...

Get the Ultra-D it's probably the best board period right now. Whether you run stock or overclock.

All the manf's have annoying bugs/issues. I've had zero problems for almost 4 weeks w/ my ultra-D mobo. I did not even update the bios yet, "if it's not broken then don't fix it" ..

Any way just some examples: A8n-sli (245-250 1T problem, vcore limited to 1.55), Chaintech VNF4 (can't set vcore between 1.45 - 1.6)

These are just a few, you'll have to do alot of reading thru the mobo threads to find other issues.

If you wait till the summer maybe these issues will be fixed thru a bios or board rev. , but who knows ..
