I'm trying to figure out which of these value rams would be the best choice of ram to get for my new computer I am very excited about building.

I don't know if I will overclock much if any.

I plan on getting a Biostar TForce4U mobo
3000+ Venice

Corsair Value

Geil Value
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820144310

There are two options here on Geil
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820144305
and getting two sticks of that.

Patriot Value
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220037
(I have heard that the timing readings posted on Newegg are incorrect, and that they are higher).

I really do not think I will be able to get the extra $20 for the Corsair XMS (I mean I could still be persuaded), but I am on a very tight budget.

Thanks for the help.

Thhe Geil and Patriot seem to have the best timings, but in reality you probably won't notice any difference between them at all.

I like my Corsair value RAM. Lifetime warranty from a good name that's been around a long time.

why do they all have heatspreaders? it just adds another step to the transfer process of heat and actually heats up the ram, not that it needs cooling anyway.

I don't know why they all have heat spreaders. I think I'm going to settle on the Geil 1GB 512x2.

those seem to be very nice.

The best thing about heat spreaders is they keep dust off the chips. Dust = Static. Static = Zapped Chips.

its your choice. Value ram is usually similar in terms of quality as they usually all use the same kinds of chips

? dust=95-99% dead skin cells.
dead skin cells=not conductive/capacative/static generating

alos, the heat spreader does not touch the contacts whixch is what you should be looking for as far as static is concerned. the top of the processor is a insulating ceramic layer, it wonuldnt affect anything if say i shocked the top black part of the chip with .5v or so.

The best Value Geil has the code: GE1GB3200BHDC as you can see here:

SKU: GE5123200BHDC/GE1GB3200BHDC (CAS @ 2.5-6-3-3)
SKU: GE5123200BDC/GE1GB3200BDC (CAS @ 2.5-8-4-4)
SKU: GE2GB3200BDC (CAS @ 3-8-4-4)

The last is the 2GB Kit. The Geil should be capable of 220MHz easy, with looser timings they have been known to hit 245-255MHz. Mine maxed at 245MHz (3-9-5-5) on my old XP-M rig.
