WinXP Pro offers some more advanced controls and stuff for administrators. It also has dual processor support, and it offers MS Cleartype, which is an anti-aliasing thing to make your desktop text look more blurry, but less pixelated. And yes, it costs more money. Microsoft's web site should have more info.

There are many comparisons on the web. I don't know all of the differences, but I know pro offers password sighnins, encrypted data, support for two proccessors, and some other stuff. If you go to microsofts site you will find a detailed list of the differences.

If you need to have the computer on a Domain, then you need to get the Pro version. Here at work laptop users have been forgetting that!

There is only a $50 difference (US) if you buy the OEM.

If you're on a home or small office network, or have a system with 2 cpu's, get the Pro version. Otherwise the Home version is just fine.
