Need help, want a single SSD to instal Win7 64 and currently run XP32 on a raid 0 of two Hitachi T7K sata spindles via ICH9R.
Must keep XP32 running, has many games on it and want to keep raid 0 intact as that is good for XP without TRIM. Hoping for a dual boot system.
Googling found nightmare thread about X25-M failing to post with ICH9R in RAID or AHCI mode, especially Asus mobos which dont have recent bios. Also numerous references to same problem elsewhere.

I have Maximus Extreme X38 mobo and most recent bios was March 2009 and that was to fix a problem I reported, so am expecting more problems, as I feel like the only Max-X user left on the planet. I want to keep it as I invested heavily in that plus a QX9650 and 4Gb OCZ DDR3 a while ago. Though mobo upgrade to X48 is not out of the question its still quite pricey.
What should I do? Should I avoid X25-M? Will ICH9R with older bios set to RAID detect some SSDs OK, if so which ones? Or am I in for another bout with Asus tech support getting them to update their bios?
Ideas?
