which thermal grease is best?

AS5 has better specs according to the manufacturer.
Ceramique is easier to apply. AS5 is not difficult to use but many do not read instructions and complain about how hard it is to spread it about. AS5 needs to be scraped with a credit card.

edit - And AS5 is non-conductive too.

Ive heard you dont need to spread AS5 on a 939 chip.. just put 1.5 grain size drop on the middle of the chip, and put the heatsink on, and your done. The heatsink spreads out the AS5 for you.

I thought that the thermal pad that came with the retail A64 HSF was very good, nearly as good as as5. Was that just me misreading something?

Arctic silver is not conductive, but it is said to be capacitive which, if true, can, theoretically, damage your CPU.

Arctic silver is the best performer, but some don't want to use it because it can cunduct some electricity. If you use as5 on a proc with an IHS (A64 or P4) you should be fine.
