Thanks Nitro, I've been wondering when the sale ended. How did you find that out?

I got an email saying that dell customer service had forwarded my request over to their electronics and accesories department and I should hear from them soon. Since I'm running out of time I'll probably just try calling them today. I'll let you know what I decide.

Personally I would buy a Viewsonic VX910 you can get one onsale at office deptot right now for 379. 16ms DVI 19inch, no ghosting. Great panel, you can even go look at it locally. Plus you can return it and exchange it locally if it has dead pixels. Do you really want to either be stuck with dead pixels or 100$+ in shipping your screen back and forth to get them repaired, when you can just get a better panel locally than either of the two you are talking about now? those 8ms panels are not true color either, and unecessary since the viewsonic does not ghost.

Alright Bou, I took the plunge and ordered the VP171B from Dell. I finally talked to a guy that was really helpful, and he made a few phone calls for me while I waited. He was told that chances are the product description is just out of date, and that the product # is what we should go by since it is kept up to date and accurate. I went ahead and ordered the monitor so I should be getting it sometime next week. They said if I'm not happy with it, I can just return it within 21 days.

Once I get it I'll check the serial #'s and everything to verify it is the 8ms panel.

John bear, I checked officedepot and that monitor is on sale from 599 to 499. Where are you geting 379?

Google for "dell coupons", you will find a bunch of sites that list Dell's current coupons and specials with expiration dates. You should alwasy check these sites before you order to see if they have a stackable coupon that can be used in addition to % off coupons.

I was under the impression that the 15% off was automatically done already... The original price of the monitor is $409.95, but currently it is listed as $348.46, which is 15% off.

You got me, thats what the other hot deal thread said. However I got mine at best buy for 399 (AR 100$)

Someone in hotdeals posted it for 379 eithe rat od or om so I mentioned that, but I know for a fact you can get it for 399$ at Best Buy web site or brick and mortar

It's actually 370 + tax AR and coupon savings.

I ordered on 1/10 and the monitor arrived 1/11, i.e. just a few hrs ago, no dead pixels, still waiting for my DVI cable from ebay but even VGA input looks great. Loving it.

go for a 19 inch lcd. i've tried 17 inches before and i can honestly say that a 19 incher is so much bigger, easier on the eyes as well. i cannot notice any ghosting on my 16ms lcd but then again i don't actively go looking for ghost trails. you'd have to be some sort of fanatic to be scrutinizing for ghosting anyway.

imo 1280x1024 is a perfect size for a 19in especially when web browsing. i like to lean back in my chair while surfing the net but not squint at the same time

BouZouki... here's three other options to consider... how about compromising between an 8ms 17" and a 16ms 19"... why not look into the 12ms 19" monitors?!?!
