I guess I just don't understand the intolerable distaste for those that believe in God, or ID, or whatever.

I oppose ID because it's a political/marketing construct designed to destroy science. In their own words, "Discovery Institute's Center for the Renewal of Science and Culture seeks nothing less than the overthrow of materialism and its cultural legacies . . . ." They usually preface materialism with the word scientific and the Wedge document spells out their goals in this respect.

I don't know. My belief in God has actually increased my belief and love of science. Although I dont' put to much weight into what science deems "absolute" now, I don't think it's completely wrong either. I just think we have to much left to learn to be able to call anything absolute yet.

Personally, I think if science and religion could work more together instead of constantly fighting, they might actually help each other out. Some of the smartest scientist I know are very religious, and it give them, as they call it, "a great insight."

As I've stated before, if there is a God, he's got to be one heck of scientist.

I agree that science and religion aren't necessarily opposed, and yes, I know religious scientists. However, ID creationism is a religious/political movement designed to replace science with religion, so ID and science are necessarily opposed. They call their strategy, the Wedge, which in their own words means:
The social consequences of materialism have been devastating. As symptoms, those consequences are certainly worth treating. However, we are convinced that in order to defeat materialism, we must cut it off at its source. That source is scientific materialism. This is precisely our strategy. If we view the predominant materialistic science as a giant tree, our strategy is intended to function as a "wedge" that, while relatively small, can split the trunk when applied at its weakest points.

How funny - quoting Albert Einstein on imagination and flexible thought, the man who despite his genius could never alter his worldview to accept quantum mechanics, and who basically threw away the second half of his career achieving absolutely nothing due to his inability to accept and then build on the achievements of others in his field, and watched it pass him by.

Those who want the truth follow the one thing that can give it to them whether now or in the future, science.

There simply is no evidence of a ''god'' or that this planet was created in 7 odd days, no evidence of a super being of godly nature so to speak , of any type. And even if there were and SCIENCE proved it, it would only beg the scientific question of what made god.
As it stands science has proven beyond any dought that on a planetary/gallaxy scale , that the UNIVERSE evolved from a single piont in space.All the stars are moving away and when put in a computor and reversed they all end up in one piont in space.
Everything to date scientificly supports evolution , not creation , to look at plain data and manipulate it around a belief only weakens ones mind. Keep an open mind , who knows maybe we were created by god and that was the big bang and we just havent discovered this yet. Science will tell us eventually and if not what else has a chance ?

l believe in science , l grew up when microwaves came along ,and no heat cooking, commodore pc s, crazy tape deck drives n aaarrrgghh , science has proven to be sound over and over, science is trial and error , replication ,and proof , over and over , in your face, it is ulimately one thing rounded down,'' A Search For The Truth '', no matter the subject .
