Who else is sick?

My entire damn family has come down with something or other and I was the last to fall. Woke up this morning with a terrible sore throat. Anyone know any good homemade remedies for a sore throat?

My wife always likes to eat spicy food like hot salsa, chili and the like. She swears by it, but the stuff she can eat will make most people I know cry like a baby and beg for mercy. :Q

be careful if you have whats going around in my part of chicago than it goes away than comes back. I got my girlfriend sick and also my co worker than my co worker got another worker sick. It seems everyone has a sore throat and a nasty cough. I swear i had mine for about 1 month and now its going away, but it did come back a second time =[. Hopefully its gone for good. I mean after having this sickness im pretty careful about people coughing around me because i dont want to get sick anymore. Also washing my hands before i eat because it hell.
Sore throat.
Cold when its hot
Chills ^^^
Cant swallow
Voice went away for about 4 days =[

I still feel sort of guilty for calling in sick to work yesterday and today.

My throat starting hurting last night and doesn't feel all that great today. Doesn't really hurt but I can tell it seems a bit raw in my upper throat going into the nasal cavity area.

I've been sick since Thursday night. Sinus infection. I found out that apple cider vinegar is a really good cure for it, though. After 5 days of suffering I took a shot of ACV and within minutes I could feel the pressure lifting in my head.

Not me, this is the first time in years that I've gotten this far into the Fall/Winter without having a sore throat or feel bloated/head about ot explode. Hell, even my nose isn't too runny; then again, it runs in the summer.

Best remedy for a sore throat is to take a bath or shower, and blast your throat with warm water. That or use a warm towel.

I have the Chicago thin that's been going around, mild flu symptoms for a week, then a week of respiratory crap. I went to the doctor yesterady and have bronchitis with a touch of pneumonia... Azithromycin for me!

Still drinking tea everyday...

Yea .... it fvcking sucks ...
Dunno if we had the exact same thing, or something similar here, but my GF's 6 year old came down with fevers and earaches weeks ago. We took him to the clinic and got him an antibiotic. After 8 or 9 day of Amoxicillin, his ear infection and bronchitis had come back, so we went to the clinic and they gave him Ceftin. It seemed to help, except that about a week after he finished the medicine, he was sick AGAIN, this time with double ear infections, so we took him again to the doc, and they gave him Augmentin this time around. During this time period, my Girlfriend has gotten sick twice, been on 2 antibiotics, and is finally starting to get back to normal, I got sick, took an antibiotic, and while much better, am still not 100%. All three of us have had fevers, sore throats, LOTS of coughing, chills, feeling overheated, tired, pain while swallowing, infinite congestion, and loss of voice.

I finished my antibiotics yesterday, and while I am MUCH better than I was, I still have congestion and coughing issues. This sucks.


As far as medicine goes ...

I've been taking pseudoephedrine (generic Sudafed, the OTC stuff that you have to buy behind the counter in most states now) 2 tablets every 4-6 hours for the congestion.

I've also been taking Generic Mucinex DM, 1 tablet every 4-6 hours to loosen up the mucus and to suppress the otherwise painful nonstop coughing. (went this route rather than "all in one" so I can get 400mg of Guaifenesin rather then the 50-100mg in most of the combo drugs.)

Also, for the fever and aches/chills/pain, I've been taking 400mg-600mg of ibuprofen 4 times per day.


Also, I am drinking lots of tea. It seems to make things feel a bit better. Honey/Lemon, around 150-180 degrees, slowly sipped.

This has never failed to cure a sore throat with many, including me. That's even considering salt water, which is a temporary fix.

I've been sick all week and I've just had to suck it up... 3 people are already on vacation in my department, so I can't call out sick without screwing someone over schedule-wise

I've just been drinking a lot of tea, getting lots of sleep, and not doing anything strenuous outside of work.

Me too, really bad sore throat last night. Couple shots of whiskey really helped, although it felt like my mouth was on fire.

can forget the feeling weak and very sore for no reason. A fever that goes and comes and a running nose with alots of mucus trying to come out. Coughing up mucus thats thick and yellow =[

Me and my girlfriend just toughed through it with no medicine. Mightve been a bad idea, but where okay now. Just everyone around us is coughing or has a lost of voice. Cant count the amount of people i run into that has a cough or loss of voice @ work.

Its like the non deadly sars of my area lol

I've had a headache and stuffy nose/sinuses since I came home for Christmas. There was only acetaminophen, which didn't do a thing. I finally got a hold of some ibuprofen, and the headache's finally in check. I miss my apartment already. It's so cold here. There's a wood pellet furnace in the basement, but there's no air circulation system in place to get the heat upstairs. So the basement is about 80-85F, while upstairs ranges from 60-65F. They've been meaning to get some sort of ventilation ductwork installed.....for about a few years now. If I was still living here, I probably would have been commissioned to do it myself.

Sore throat is gone, but now I'm stuffed up like crazy. Sudafed and Afrin can't kill this congestion... it must be some strong stuff. I wonder if snorting cayenne will help?

Just about getting over mine. I was taking some stronger antibiotic stuff, hoping I'll be fine before going to the mountains tomorrow. Plenty of hot liquids and spicy food to keep me alive during the day.
