I read it, but can't give you a complete story plot even though I've read it like two-three weeks ago. Can't remember everything.

Just wait until you take English Lit 101 in college. Sir Gawain, Milton, Canteburry Tales, etc. You're just going to have a ball.

We read Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and it wasn't that bad. Once I got over the concept of the knight getting his head chopped off and just putting it back on, it was much smoother sailing. heh

However the Canterbury Tales.. what a bitch..

Err.. Can I have your response on the story?.
Not like the whole plot of the story.
But a general idea on your thoughts.
Some main things that stuck out well (without going into too much detail)

One cool aspect of Beowulf: It's probably one of the first stories with a sequel

it's ok, but the fact that it was never intended to be read really shows (I'd apply that to the Illiad/Odyssy and Shakespeare's plays as well).

from what l remember, Beowulf was a little guy who leads a bunch'o sailors into some cave to clear out an annoying monster and its mother.along the way, this silver sword represented temptation, and the evil monster's mother was suppose to be green and smelled of sour milk. Thats all l remember. ugh... what a horrible book.

beowolf is about a whole bunch of ninjas that invaded europe in the 15th century. The ninjas almost killed everybody with the black plague until beowolf used his wizardry to become a super gayan thus defeating the horde of invading ninjas. Beowolf then proceeded to collect these things call dragon claws that allowed him to summon a giant dragon that can grant any wish. Beowolf wish that everybody the ninjas killed would come back to life and the dragon was like "it is done!" The book is awesome! Has alot of good actions!

Remember the Christian overlay, and the Pagan funeral. Also, throw in the terms Exojesus and Oedipal Complex FTW!

Ow ya, Cain killed Abel.

Wait! I forgot one thing! Wilgalf died and Beowulf fvcked the lion.

Some of the more modern translations are incredibly well-written, like a wholly different piece. However, the first translation I read in high school some years back was less exciting that watching paint dry.

That's probably because a lot of high school teachers are poorly qualified. (As well as schools getting bad versions)

My response? Its just a story about a hero figure who tries to slay Grendel in a cave and Grendel's parent(s?) underwater. There's not much to say besides the plot. Its use of figurative speech is not great. Sometimes I couldn't tell what was supposed to be happening without studying the lines. I guess the speech between Unferth and Beowulf at the feast place was an event that stuck out..
