graphics definately arent important to me. i still find myself enjoying a run through doom2 every few months, even though ive already beaten it about 10,000 times. i think HL1 was without a doubt the best FPS game ever made, and i wish a new game would come out that would be up to its level.

Nah, Doom 1 still wins, if nothing else on the basis of being the first "proper" 3D shooter.
Yeah, I played Wolf as well, and while it was cool, it was still lacking something that Doom had.
Anyone remember the feeling as you came to the last level of episode 2? The Tower of Babel.
You heard that big roar and wondered wtf was making those sounds, then you said hello to Mr Cyberdemon, damn that was ****** awesome

Doom 1 is a very good game, but it's a shame that the sequel was so bad.
Exactly, the graphics are not THAT bad yet, really. Especially if you use the HD models (and it's ridiculous that those are not included standard in the Steam version).Originally posted by: BFG10K
I still actively replay Half-Life. The graphics are dated but they still have a nostalgic charm about them, plus you can run the game with 16xAA.
I also throught Xen was quite interesting in many places.

What Doom2 lacked in singleplayer, it more than made up for in multiplayer fun
Small LAN's, playing FFS 4 player games, now that makes everything we have now look so ****** boring.
E1M1 and E1M7 took asskicking to a whole new level.

hell yeah! that was like, my entire childhood right there! me and my brother. he made the most rediculous WADs. like, this one, WAAHH32. damn.
but, i really dont see what doom2 lacked in single player. its the only game i have continued to play after more than 10 years, and still enjoy.
Wish they'd give us a release date. Until then any mod is just a pipe dream.Originally posted by: rwmega
I loved Half Life 1 and still love the new ones. Episode One was great. I can't wait until Black Mesa comes out. Modders are totally redoing the game with source graphics. Find the website and check out the progress thus far.

I have missed it, but then I got on Steam, donwloaded it, maxed all the graphic settings both in Nvidia CP and in-game, and walked around the first level. Its just too old to play anymore...
