who here rides a bike?

i got a bike my freshman year of college. klr650, fun bike, but i decided a street bike would be more fun, so i upgraded to a vfr 750. it was a little too fun and i wrecked it going around a curve around 60mph. i was forced to sell it ;'( fast forward about two years later and i'm living in tokyo. picked up a gpz900r . fun bike but do to the previous owner i've had some issues.

some people, mainly my parents, thing i'm dumb as a bag of bricks (indeed, true) for wanting to ride bikes, but i think it is one of those things. if you don't ride or never have, you just don't know how fun it is or why we like it. kind of like tattoos, or so i here. won't know why people like 'em when you don't have 'em and once you get one you just want more.

so, who else here rides?

I had a cheap enduro dirt bike in high school that I got around on until I had a car. It was some ebay special. Probably ~150cc but it had a big frame so I sat comfortably on it (I'm 6'5). It got me to and from football practices and I had a lot of fun with it on the trails.

I'm looking for a naked bike right now, I like the upright seating position.

'08 Suzuki SV650

Light weight, great V-twin engine, fast, fun, handles the twisties well. Just a great all around bike.

This is my second bike. Bought it last April and have almost 5,000 miles on it. Just replaced he crappy OEM rubber with some Michelin Pilot Powers that grip right up to the edge. Great confidence boosting tire!

They have one at my local Triumph dealer. I sat on it recently and would love to own that bike but finances don't allow for it at the moment.

Maybe in the next couple years I'll start thinking about a new bike again. The Triumph Street Triple R, the Speed Triple, and the Ducati Monster 1100 are all on the short list.

I owned a 1979 Honda CB750 prior to this and I've ridden a BMW R1150R and Ducati GT1000 Sport Classic along with a few other bikes over the years.

Started riding at 14 with a little Tomos moped. I hopped it up a little and it would run to about 45 mph (stock would barely make 25 mph, with a tailwind).

At 16 I bought an '82 Honda Nighthawk 450 (CB450SC) and rode that through high school and college. Put it in storage when I moved out to Seattle and missed it the whole time.

Just bought an '07 Harley Sportster Roadster (XL1200R) and can't wait to get out on the roads again. Thought about a Bonneville but I like the Harley's sound better and I got a good deal on the Sportster. New to me Sporty.

Get a "Rods Rule" tee shirt and wear it whenever he's around. You might also point out to him that there are some great deals to be had on used V-Rods right now, I was just looking at an 08 with under 400 miles on it for 12k. The bike is showroom perfect.
