*edit* I have a mitchell cutaway acoustic electric classical, and it treats me well.

Taylor makes GREAT classical guitars. The only problem is that they are a bit pricey. I currently have a Washburn cutaway acoustic-electric steel string guitar and a Yamaha grand auditorium classical. Suffice to say, the Yamaha's a really cheap one that looks great but sounds terrible in comparison to other better quality classical guitars. I also really recommend this Takamine. The price is not too shabby and its got great sound.

Takamine's are great for the price. I bought one as an entry level guitar and it has served me well. Very durable and even has a nice onboard tuner. Yamaha also makes a very capable guitar in the $500 range.

Sheesh!!

Most the recommendations so far have been for good steel string guitar companies, not classical

Ramirez is the cream of the crop factory produced classicals, but pricey. Most top professional classical players play hand made one of a kind axes from top luthiers, but your looking at $8k-$25k if you go that route.

The low end of the Ramirez line at Musicians Friend

Other top tier makers are Hirade and Almansa

In the under $800 category I would only recommend Alhambra or Takamine

I started with a yamaha cgs 104 which is a great started classical guitar. I recently upgraded to a Cordoba 55r, which is a great guitar. Haven't been able to put it down since. Love the finish. I maybe wrong in saying this, but I believe I read somewhere that Cordoba is like the cheaper brand of Ramirez just like Epiphone is to Gibson.
