I wouldn't mind a pm on how to start up with usenet.
I don't know what you get with the alternatives, but Easynews is worth it for the GUI, the global search with global/custom filters (gets rid of 95% of the german language "discussions" in results), its PAR viewer with auto-unzip/auto-unRAR so you can ID virus/PW-locked junk (anything that doesn't automatically extract in PAR viewer AVOID), and ZIP manager so you can place everything in queues and download it all at once.Yep easynews but they are far to expensive. I prefer my $5 a month unlimited account special with Supernews.
I pay $8/month ($96/year deal) for Astraweb to download all my "discussions" at full speed.
Sabnzbd is pretty good. Then use binsearch or nzbclub. If you watch a lot of TV shows, look into sickbeard.
and how many "discussions" have you download at full speed? :whiste:
It looks like Astraweb has the best deal right now for unlimited.
Are these being blocked by fios?
I thought I remember it having to do with the old internet routing and its a loop hole people use for kiddie prn. Now I want to establish that I don't think anyone here uses it for that nor would i

I think news group access used to be offered by default from ISPs, but most if not all have stopped that. That might be what you're thinking of.
ISP usenet have about 3 days retention for alt.binaries back then. Useless.
So I've been testing Usenet for the last month and in my opinion it is not better than torrenting properly. Canceling my subscription, what a waste of cash.
