I have to say Carlin as well. He doesn't always make me laugh, in fact soemtimes he pisses me off, but he does make me think.

Don't know if this counts, but Jim Carrey is one of my favorite actors. I find him to be quite funny. Especially the "cotton mouth scene" in Me, Myself, and Irene.
