Because we have a beef with Cuba. I was blown away last time I was in Toronto. I ran into some Canadian's that vacation in Cuba. I never even gave that a second though being an American. Also, Cuban cigars are legal in Canada btw..

Just be careful, it is very easy to take the band off one cigar and stick it on another. If you don't know what they taste, smell, look like, you may get ripped off. Oh, and they are also legal in Mexico.

Cuban cigars are the best there is. Period. I have had the pleasure of smoking them on two separate occasions. Deep flavor. Tasty buzz.

Cuban cigars are not always the best anymore. They have a lot of quality control issues and most of the good cigar makers have moved to other areas so they can have legal cigars to sell here in the states.

Werd that. I've had the opportunity to smoke one in the past and there is no comparison. In fact, a friend of mine brought me back a couple from a recent trip to the Caribbean, and I'm waiting for my B-day on Friday to savor them.
As for why they are illegal, it is because we have a trade embargo against them. ALL Cuban goods are illegal to import into the US. As for why we have this embargo with the US, just watch Godfather Part II (seriously). Essentially, in the '50s the mafia wanted to turn Cuba into the Vegas of the east and spent millions on casinos, bribing politicians, etc. Then Castro came along and they lost all their investments.

The embargo is the reason, but you can still legally buy Cuban cigars in the US. You see before Castro took over, a lot of Cuban tobacco was imported into the US. This tobacco is still being used to make cigars. They are expensive but legal.
Cubans can be very, very good. They can also be kinda mediocre. They are also very expensive due to the hype factor. A lot like french wines. I usually go with dominicans since they're 50% of the price and generally 95% as good.

#1 We have a trade embargo on Cuba
#2 Uncle Sam makes no money on the sale...same reason drugs are illegal. If Uncle Sam made $2 off every $5 bag of weed sold, weed would be sold in every Mom&Pop store across the nation.

Nah, Dominican's roll theirs too tight. That's the very reason you can't have them making crepes.
Hehe we went there for vacation last year for our honeymoon We told some americans that last week and they were taken aback.Originally posted by: Salvador
