Why bother with rebates?

On my last system build I came away with a total of 7 gift cards, majority of which were AMEX and a couple Visa. I have been trying for two weeks to find a way to cash these as none are over $30 so it limits the single purchases options.

Does anyone have an idea what to do with these that I have missed or am I just COL?

ugh, you buy stuff at a store, they charge 30 dollars off the card, you throw it away, you hand cash or credit for the remaining amount you owe...its very simple.

Gas, but be sure to let the attendant swipe it.

I have Comcast/Xfinity service. Online payment allows you to make partial payments with multiple cards.

The last rebate card I had gotten I bought a WM GC with it. The bad thing about these stupid rebatge GCs is that they start charging a user fee if not used by a certain date. Pretty stupid.

As stated above, I buy Amazon gift cards or Walmart gift cards. They don't expire and I shop frequently at both stores.

does it depend on state? i know in some states expiration dates on gift cards are not legal...probably service fees as well

but yea depositing a check is less hassle than cramming yet another card into your wallet these days...

Thanks for the great ideas, I didn't think about Amazon or gas. As for using it in store though, unfortunately I would have to buy useless things that I wouldn't need either.

I always use them on gas. The reason they say to have the attendant swipe it is so that you can specify the amount to pump/charge before pumping because otherwise the pump will attempt to place a $100 hold on it which will, of course, bounce.

We tend to use them on groceries, esp when they get down to small amounts.

"I would like $1.12 on this card and the remaining $63.27 on my visa"

Perspective is messed up! Crying about some pathetic "issue" like "rebates" while IMPORTANT THINGS ARE HAPPENING in real life, such as, for example, around 20,000 kids died from STARVATION just today, and another 20,000 will die again again tomorrow...that was the point. What that OP guy is whining about as "trouble" is just such a ridiculously trivial "problem" compared to REAL TRUE suffering of tens of thousands of people on this Gaia Earth--people who have REAL TROUBLE!!!!

Essentiall the OP doesn't even realize about himself that he's a SPOILED BRAT!!! No perspective on life!

WUT?????

Has it turned into a sport to troll these forums now?

IIRC you can split payments on Amazon. Just buy more stuff. Alternatively, send them to me.

buy amazon gift cards and load up your amazon account.

Or gas, or Wal-Mart

If you purchase gas, go inside to pay. It will use up the card and leave the balance to pay however you want.

My work gives me about a thousand dollars a year in gift cards. It used to bug me but once you learn how they work (trial and error for me), it's actually pretty simple.

Yet you pay for internet access rather than give that money to help feed starving children.
You go out to eat rather than give that money to feed starving children.
You buy things you like rather than things you need, costing you money that you could give to starving children.

In the scheme of things you aren't any better than the OP, and in many ways you're worse because you're a hypocrite.
