Many fail out of Georgia Tech because they were in the top 10% of their graduating high school class, and since they were able to skate through high school on brains alone, they think they can do the same at Tech. But, after a week or two of slacking off, they soon realize they're in a hole they'll never get out of. After all, this is school that prides itself on eliminated a sizeable percentage of its freshmen, and of those in-state students who do manage to stay, 85% of them lose their HOPE scholarship (meaning, their GPA slipped below a 3.0 after the first year).
