My sentiments, exactly. Seagate has an exaggerated repuation for quality in AT based solely on their longer warranty. Most hd mfgs have an express rma option, not Seagate. I recently had a new hd fail, and then had to wait for three weeks for the replacement (refurb) arrive - in the meantime we are supposed to sit around twiddling our thumbs, and then hope the replacement doesnt die just as suddenly.
I usually buy a temp drive at Best Buy or some store with a good return policy. I return it when I find a hot deal on a permanent replacement, and I don't feel the least bit guilty about it.
I never use a refurbished drive as my main drive, even if it is new, if it failed once it may fail again. I have one WD replacement which lasted twice as long as the original without hiccup, but I still can't trust it fully.
