Not for any normal person.

When the government was doing research on the subject, the doses required to fsck someones mind over were mind boggling. Nobody would ever do that much at once on their own.

There is no logical reason LSD is illegal, just like there is no logical reason marijuana is illegal.

Granted, LSD shouldn't be compared to marijuana, but it is arguably just as safe. It isn't going to kill you. It's not addictive. I've never heard of an LSD junkie. You just don't do that.

It has a strange "hard drug" stigma around it with most people. Many of the same people have no problems with mushrooms, though. Even though LSD is more intense than mushrooms, its certainly in the same vein.

LSD isn't something people do just to get fucked up on a whim, like you can with marijuana or alcohol. It tends to be more planned out and purposeful.

IT isn't going to kill you, but the argument is that what you might do while on it could kill you.

Never happened to me, but look at Syd Barret.

On a semi related note, I somewhat bad tripped once. I was really into Pink Floyd at the time, and I somehow convinced myself that I was Syd Barret, gone completely insane and to remain that way for the rest of my life.

I should've listened to myself the first time I said "just go to sleep and everything will be fine in the morning"

LSD is definitely not some newbie shit.

heh.

i thought i was ringo starr for a good 6 hours. accent and everything, apparently. point of the story, don't watch the yellow submarine while tripping face.

yeaaaaaaah "wish you were here" probably wasn't the best track for me to play lol

There are people who never get out of the bad trip. They wind up in mental wards.

I did a LOT of lsd. I can totally understand why it's illegal. You DO NOT want people to have access to this stuff.

I'm calling your bluff. You really think people end up in mental wards because of LSD? I'm a skeptic.

LSD is relatively safe. It's not addictive and you have to have something like 1000 times the effective dose before you OD on it.

you could also hurt others.

by the same standards alcohol should certainly be banned.

agreed.

but we're not debating whether or not alcohol should be banned. i'm just citing possible reasons why i think lsd is illegal.

I knew this guy that went on a road trip with a few friends (State called Goa, about 450 miles from where I live). He tripped on some acid, went out for a walk, caught a bus, and 24 hours later came back home.

He left his cell in the hotel room and his friends had no freaking idea where he was. I had to call them and tell them he was safe, back home.

It's a funny story but I imagine a lot could have gone wrong.

Barret was way too extreme though. I figure something like that might happen to a small minority of users but it still sounds freaky to me.

Yes. I was really into it for quite a while. Did all kinds of research. They are essentially perpetually tripping.

Of course it's rare, but it does happen. OH, and an OD does is something like 100,000 (or some wild number) times a 50 microgram dose.

Because of my original post (where I pointed out that I was ignorant) or all of the responses?

The responses I have seen thus far have been helpful to me, mostly.

You mean perma-fried? I've also heard stories, but they're just that, "stories". Not saying if it's true or not, but can't verify/too lazy to verify.

I dunno. I guess.

I'm always completely lucid, aware of my surroundings and my actions when I trip, but I do understand that not everyone is like this.

Same problem with alcohol, or really any other drug though....

according to wiki, the single confirmed overdose was something like 30000 regular doses

How the hell do you even get 30000 times a regular dose? And wouldn't that be expensive as hell?

that's why you always have a spotter who is not tripping while you are.

I haven't had any flashbacks and I hope I don't have major genetic mutations but I never was nor would not have been comfortable tripping alone.

It's definitely not for the timid. You should use mushrooms as the gateway drug before graduating to acid.

You have to have the government curious about how much it would take to kill a man

Marijuana really doesn't do a lot of harm physically but my ex brother-in-law is a perfect example of how it's harmful.

His family all smokes pot and he has been since he was a young teen. He's a complete loser and has zero ambition in life. When he was laid off from a decent job he had, he was eligible to go on a state program that would give him a free two year college education. He was too lazy to go take the tests to qualify and passed up on a free college education. I confronted him on this and his typically pothead argument was "well, maybe I don't want the same things in life that you do."

No shit.

sounds like he's a lazy sack of shit

pothead =/= lazy sack of shit

of course if he's happy then whatever, it's a moot point.

It can hurt you, make no mistake. A driver swerving to avoid a large purple poka-dotted dino into the path of a large on-coming tracter-trailer is gonna get hurt. A pedestrian stepping left onto railroad tracks and into the path of an oncomng high speed train to get around the pillsbury doughboy is gonna get hurt.

Were you just being silly suggesting it can't hurt you?
