WiFi vs Hardwired Ethernet Speeds

I've got the 50 Mbps service from Crapcast and just want to find out if what I'm seeing is about normal or it needs tuning in one way or another.
The network is as follows:

WiFi


Docked into docking station. Gigabit back to modem.

Wired, I say yes...that's what I say.

WiFi needs more information:

-What E3000 Firmware are you running? edit: der, I didn't refer to the picture in detail..
-What speeds are the wifi clients connected at? g? n?

WiFi speeds are aren't terrible, but you may be able to get it faster. Those look about right for wireless g, though.

Yeah, somewhere around 20Mbps is normal for wireless-G, and is plausible on wireless-N on 2.4Ghz with a ton of interference.

go for 5Ghz networks if you can. Even 802.11a (54Mbps-5Ghz) is faster than N when the 2.4Ghz spectrum is crowded.

22 Mb/sec. is the top 802.11g that One gets when the Wireless client is in the same room, in an environment that has no significant electrical noise, and the TCP stack configure to the optimum.

In real life, average End-Users get and avargae of 16 Mb/sec. from 802.11g.
Thus the 18Mb/sec. that the OP gets is actually slightly above the average

As a frame of reference that is what I get using the 5GHz band when the Laptop is next room (15' away) doors opened and my Internet connection is 28Mb/s Down 1Mb/sec. Up.
