I think this proves Anands trustworthiness.

I think Intel is a major corporation with billions of dollars riding on the line with the PIV launch.

It is highly likely and to be expected that they will attempt to influence the hardware sites.

I think anand was conned by the rambus launch.

I think anand was conned by the coppermine launch.

And they only have access to the hardware for a short period of time with the final drivers etc.

I suspect that intel is not a dumb company and will have the full court press.

We will know in a few weeks.

Stefan, CRV was quoting Anand, not stating a 'general rule of thumb' for how the forums work. IMO the quote holds true to how Anand shows things, and that was CRV's point.

I have limited exposure to Anand's hardware reviews but
the few that I have come across definitely show his affection for
Intel's products over AMD's. His inclusion of an overclocked
BX board along with the recalled Pentium 1.13 in his Athon 1.1 review
was done merely to cast a negative light onto AMD's release.
Why the constant references to Intel's P4 and the hope that
AMD will be able to release a &quot;cooler running&quot; Athlon in the review
of the 760 DDR chipset? Pure FUD. BTW Anand, just how &quot;cool&quot;
has that P4 been running?

Comparisons to a competitor's unavailable or modified products have
no place in an objective review.

somehow i don't see Anand selling out. He does honest and more or less unbiased reviews. don't forget, look around. you chan check reviews at tom's hardware, sharkeys etc. and then get the drift of what the processor's good and bad sides are

Hmmm... Good read. Never thought of it that way... Say everyone on this site bought just US$500 of equipment this year based partially on AnandTech's recommendations. That would be 1 billion dollars worth of equipment. :Q

I beg to differ. Before the overclocked BX reviews started surfacing here, Anand did declare his desires to include BX133 and asked for feedback. Most of us requested that he include BX benchmarks, partially because that's what many of us use. The aging BX motherboard is still one of the fastest platforms on the market. However, we also did request he indicate that this was not truly a valid comparison because the BX system was overclocked. And he did so. I would have preferred a stronger warning about BX133, especially for the newbies, but he did keep his word.

Of course, I have seen problems with some of AnandTech's reviews. I really wondered what was going on with the Rambus article. Even to an outside non-technical observer like me, it still seemed like an article based on press releases and conjecture, especially because it included no benchmarks. However, overall I find AnandTech's reviews have generally been the among the least biased and the most complete without getting overly technical. I also appreciate the professional manner in which the articles these articles are written. It gets tiresome reading &quot;that new bitchin' CPU just made my box scream&quot; or viewing pages covered by booth babe pictures, something which seems ubiquitous on hardware sites for whatever reason.

I suspect that AnandTech will remain among the best and among the most popular for quite some time.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no thanks! I reply as I see fit according to the subject. If there is one thing I disagree with, pertaining to Anand?s reply is that ?It was a valid concern?, because it was not. A concern yes, valid, no. There is absolutely nothing to suggest Anand is or was Intel?s ?whore?, or AMD?s or any manufacturer. It?s pretty obvious that jhalada is anti-Intel, which is his free right. But if he bothered to read Anands AMD DDR review thoroughly, he would have noticed this statement from Anand:

In order to be fair to both AMD and Intel, we used the same config files that they used to submit their benchmarks to SPEC. ? It was also repeated here more then once, but some seem to have selective reading (Oh?more sarcasm). You can find the whole piece here. I suggest he read the whole page so he understands why Anand choice to use SPEC, and why AMD and Intel both submitted their config files! Just cuz you disagree with a review don?t make it untrue. BTW, I wasn?t the only one being sarcastic (even if that), funny you attack only me, must be personal.

Anyway, Anand has spoken, and has put the facts forward.

As far as I am concerned Anand doesn't have to explain himself to anyone. His work is right out there for everyone to see. More than any other site on the internet does a thorough evaluation and lets the facts speak for themselves. He may make a mistake or misjudgment at times but they are HONEST mistakes. Many times he has acknowledged minor errors and corrected them.

I think that everyone should be free to express an opinion but I question the right to come onto this site and accuse someone of selling out based on an article that hasn't even been written yet! At least wait until the article is written
