Willamette (P4 1.4) on Canterwood?

Would this work for the interim until I can afford new RAM and a new CPU? I have PC2100 DDR RAM and the really old and slow Willamette.

If the mobo supports the 400Mhz FSB, I don't see why not. What 875 board did you have in mind?

It looks like it would work. Here is ASUS's support list for their Canterwood P4C-800 . All Williamettes (478-pin, of course) are on there, and I'm sure it would be the same for most manufacturers. So, you should be ok.

But in the meantime, plan to buy a P4 C chip. they are so much faster than that crappy CPU!

Buy a Springdale chipset,with the money you saved buy a 2.4C.
