There are third party products (WindowBlinds for example) that allow you to 'skin' a good chunk of the OS. There are some performance tradeoffs, so probably not good for you unless you have a reasonable fast machine.

well apparently Microsoft bought rights for Windows Blinds and that's what WinXP is using except its embeded. That is why WinXP performance lags sometimes behind Win2k.
