win 98 for free?

I was reading an article over at hardwarecentral.com the other day and at the end the author brought up an interesting idea. Basically it was that M$ should make its older OSes free once they have been replaced by newer ones. I was just wondering what you all think about that idea? I can't see them ever doing it...

even if they made it free, I wouldn't touch them.

But then the likelyhood of this ever happening is about as close to nil as you can possibly get.

Hell, original dos still cost something around 300 dollars before MS finally pulled the plug on it a few years ago.

Never happen. I have seen in small shops win 3.1 for over a hundred bucks

Seems like that would make the older operating systems more competative against the newer ones they're trying to sell. Can't see the logic in that!
