I am running a Windows 2000 domain in native mode with AD. Group policies for windows XP and 2000 machines work great. Being that I run a Citrix / Termainal Server environment, the client workstations do not have to be the latest and greatest. I'd say about 1/2 of my clients are on Win98...why spend thousands of dollars just to have them run the remote desktop client...not really worth it...ok moving on... They log in, then access the Termainal Servers. I wanted to secure these 98 workstations as much as possible which the only way from what I know is to use poledit.exe from the 98 CD-Rom, then save the config.pol file to the \\DomainController\NETLOGON share. Once I did that I installed the group policy files to read this info onto the 98 workstations as seen in Microsoft 98 Resource Kit:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/docu.../98/all/reskit/en-us/part2/wrkc08.mspx
Everything seems to be ok at this point. The only policies that I will be enforcing are the computer policies and not user specific so I have not set up profiles for the users on the 98 machines. When I restart the 98 machines, they are supposed to pull the config.pol file. No computer policy gets applied. Is there something that I am doing wrong?
