Win2k and USB?

I thought that Win2k was supposed to offer USB support, but I cannot get it to find any USB device so I can use them... but they do show in the hardware manager. It tells me it cannot load the required drivers, but I have downloaded the latest drivers from the manuf website... and ideas? Thanks

Also how can I tell what service pack I have on here... thought I had SP2, but now the puter seems to be sayin I dont...

Win2k had pretty good usb support, are you following the manufacturers instructions for installing the drivers? If so try shutting down and powering off the PC. Start it up and when at the desktop, plug in the USB device and see if that helps...

As for the Service pack Right Click on "My Computer" and Left Click on "Properties" and it will be listed on the right side of the Dialog Box.

Sometimes the USB support gets hickups... do as tony said, I found that to help now and then.

Another thing to try: unhook the devices and delete the drivers completely from the system, reboot and start the installation of the device from fresh: mycomputer>>properties>>hardware>>hardwarewizard (I think it's called that, I can't check since my OS is in german - its the topmost button anyway) there select deinstall/remove hardware and select deinstall hardware again not remove hardware. In the box that appears select "show hidden devices" and delete the USB devices that are causing you headaches. Now you reboot and reinstall the USB stuff following the manuf manual to the letter!

My Joystick, Mouse Camera and Scanner all are USB and work nicely on W2K
