Win2k Installation Problems

I have a PIII 600 on an Asus P2B-S board (440BX, AHA2940UW onboard SCSI) and I'm trying to install win2k but it keeps on giving me a blue screen stop error a few seconds into the setup. I tried removing all my NICs and etc and leaving only the Vcard and I have downloaded the adaptec drivers and used them during setup (hitting F6 for third party SCSI drivers). But none of that has helped. I have no clue why I can't install 2k because I have installed XP on it before without a problem (and I didn't even need the adaptec drivers). Can anyone help?

why does eveyone buy something else then an intel mobo? ive seen alot of problems like this at work, where people bring their pcs in and have a good CPU but a non intel board...... maybe its a heating problem too. do you have the latest bios?

you ever o/c'ed with an intel mobo?

theres lots of other reasons i wont rant about, but intel is not the only good mobo maker, come on.

Well I can't remember the error exactly. When 2k is setting up to install (the blue screen in dos) and after it finishes loading up and it gets ready to go install, I get a blue screen that says something like Stop error page blah blah and a whole bunch of numbers. It says check hardware to see if its install correctly and all that. That's why I took out everything except for vcard and got the adaptec drivers for the onboard SCSI but it still gives me the error.

Well it's an intel chipset regardless of the brand.

Are you sure the Win2k setup disk is good? A corrupt file will certainly cause you grief. Is the hardware you?re installing on supported by Win2k? Also a bad memory chip could be the culprit as well.

BTW... Intel motherboards are rock solid - I would never use anything else when dependability is an issue... but that?s another thread!
