Win2k & Objectdesktop

I was considering playing around with Windowblinds/Objectdesktop on a Win2k Pro rig. Does anyone have experience or comments on this software?

I've used Windowsblinds on occasion from one version to the next. Whole the latest version is pretty quick I still find it makes the GUI feel a slight bit sluggish. Then again I do consider myself more of a "power user". I seem to notice things that others do not. There are some really impressive skins out there and WindowBlinds does have some functional tools available to those who use it. I've never tried Object Desktop. I just couldn't get past the little quirks in WindowBlinds.

Many people like it, and I'll still go back and play with it on occasion. I would recommend that you at least give it a try. You can download a trial copy from Stardock so you don't really have anything to lose.

I've had OD since pre-Beta (actually, since their OS/2 days).

I usually run WindowBlinds, DesktopX, and WindowsFX, and I install most of their utilities. (Object Edit, Object Zip, Association Wizard, and System Tweaker(?) are all useful as well.)

Performance on a PIII-866 w/ 196MB is quite adequate--but this is a work system, not a gaming system, so my requirements are not as steep. I do run RC5 24/7 though.
