I know these threads are a dime a dozen, but google was showing nothing and it was tough putting this problem into a few words to search for on this forum. But anyway, here goes.
epox 8k3a kt266a
AmdM 45w @ 15x166 & 1.7v
antec 350w power supply
gf4ti4200 running omega drivers(i forget which) 128mb
512 stick of pc2700 crucial
running Windows 2000
Now, here's the problem, it's been occuring a lot. At first I started getting random reboots while playing games, so upon inspection I found out that my power cable was really garbage and it just wouldn't work sometimes so I got a new one. After a day or two when I would reboot my computer it would make it back to right before the login screen and it would reboot (aka during "Preparing network connections").
So then I would let it sit off for a while and turn it on and it would work. Tonight was the killer. I was playing Guildwars and having a grand old time when all of a sudden that shut down, the game crashed not the PC. So I started it up, same thing under same circumstance. So I decided maybe I needed directX9.c Installed that, rebooted and that did me in. It keeps rebooting at the preparing network connections, even if I let it sit for a while.
What could it be? Bad power supply? It's not a heat issue, because I got rid of the overclock and when it idles at 43C I still get this problem. I'm hoping something simple... Thanks.
