Upgraded to Office 2002 (XP) and then found out, after a series of crashes, that Winfax 10.0 is not compatible. Symantec has not offered an update to Winfax 10.02, and recommends uninstalling the software (Winfax), which I have done, half because the machine will not work well with it on, half because Symantec has really REALLY pist me off.
I am getting used to using Microsoft Fax, which is not half bad. However, I am having a problem in that it receives, and will print (if set to do so) all pages in a fax, but it only saves the first one! Gack!
Anybody have any ideas about this? Another [interesting] point that may be related, or may not, is that the thumbnails in the fax folder (*.tif files) do not show an image, only an icon for the program with which the file type is associated.
It does receive all the pages sent, and I have taken to having them "print" to FinePrint 2000 [great program] which holds the pages until I can print them (usually to Acrobat), so I have a record. It also has no problems sending, answering, etc. Just that weirdness of saving only the first file. I can see the built in fax software being acceptable and a replacement for Winfax except it only saves one page, which is a pretty big issue.
If anyone can offer any suggestions, I would very much like to hear. Other than this the system runs fine. My system is built on an Asus CUSL2-C board, and is P3/1000, 512MB RAM, 2 Seagate SCSI Cheetah drives, etc. It is a dream system, and has given no problems that could not be traced to crashes caused by the software conflict with Winfax and Office.
Thanks.
