Win2k Terminal Server problem

Our 90 day temporary license is about to expire and we have still not decided upon either A. buying a 10CAL pack or B. upgradin the Terminal Server users' machines to win2k pro which has free terminal server CALs. We need to reset the licensing on the TS machine. I read somewhere that there is a way to do this by deleting a registry entry. Does anyone know how this is done?

Did you register the server? If you did, TS will issue temporary licenses. I will look for the reg key (I do believe it exists).

No we have not. This was done once before, and I specifically remmember reading how to do it but cannot locate the source of this information.

The TS license registration has two steps. The first is registering the actual server via the phone, fax, or web. Once the server has been registered, it can then start supporting clients (this is when you have configured the server to be an application serer, not remote admin mode). Then, after the server is registered, you then register and install CALs for TS. First, check to see if the server has been registered. If not, register it. If it has, then try to find the reg key (which I am still looking for).

Since the server has been up and working and the problem is with the temporary CALs expiring I believe that the server has been registered. I really appreciate your help in trying to find the registry keys which need to be modified to get the server to continue issuing temporary CALs

You delete reg keys on the client machines for them to get re-issued temp CALs. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing\ is what you are looking for. Delete any license under the \store key.
