Windows 10 Boot questions.

So initially I tried to install windows 10 onto this PC without upgrading and that failed as you can guess, I did this on a 1 TB drive (now E

I installed a 64GB SSD and installed my vista, uptgaded to 7, upgraded to 10 like a good boy and that worked fine, authenticated etc. (now C

I have been using this for a few months but my E: is now having issues (errors etc, needs replaced).

If I remove the drive, the system will not boot.
If in my bios I tell it to boot with the windows boot manager, it will not boot.
If in my bios I tell it to boot with the SSD, it will not boot.
If in my bios I tell it to boot with the dying E:, it boots and it loads my good version of windows on the C:.

How do i fix this so i can remove this dying drive, ive already backed everything up.

Run easybcd,get the free community edition,while running win 10 from your "now c"
Go to BCD deployment find your ssd disk where it says partition and press the button that says write mbr( vista++ bcd) and after that the one that says install bcd,it will ask you if you want to load this new bcd,answer yes and add (add new entry) your windows 10,normally you don't have to change anything it will already point to your c partition.


You can also just boot up with a win 10 usb/dvd and do a few boot repairs(with only the ssd on your system) it will probably fix it at some point.

Have you tried in Windows Disk Management to turn the drive E offline or delete it and then try to boot without it?

Well use rufus or the windows media creation tool and create a bootable thumb drive of windows 10. Remove all drives from the system except for the ssd you wish to place 10 on and boot from the thumb drive installing to the ssd using your win 7 key for the clean install and you shouldn't have any problem.

I tried to use tweakhound info and the easybcd tool to fix the issue to no success.

I tried to remove the drive and do a clean 'repair' of the installation via the windows 10 disk, but it said a required drive was not installed.

So, with just the SSD installed I formatted it and reinstalled windows 10 but am back to square 1, I cant authenticate using my windows 7 upgrade key.

Am I doomed to format again, reinstall vista/7/10?

I tried to use slui 4 and authenticate via the phone but that failed, and I was too tired to have to talk to a person.... Is there anything else I can do other than the triple installation ?

Just create a boot win 7/8/10 USB drive.
Disconnect all but the drive that has the OS on it.
When you boot off the USB stick, tell it to repair it.
