windows 7 tv tuner?

can anyone recommend a good windows 7, 64 bit compatible tv tuner?

I'm not particularly concerned about features, just looking for something cheap + functional.

Then again, what are you looking for as cheap? Do you plan on using a USB-based TV tuner or an internal, PCI-based TV tuner?

They won't be Win 7 compatible but they will be vista 64 compatible which is basicly the same thing.

I'm using the Diamond TV Wonder 650 PCI myself. Works great with Windows 7 RC 64-bit. It integrates nicely with Windows Media Centre right out of the box. The general rule is that if it works on Vista it will work on Win 7.

Happague's cards are also highly recommended. The WinTV-HDR 1800 MCE PCIe is probably their best mid-range card. Comes with remote for $105 or without for $90.

I was actually wondering about TV tuners, myself (also Vista 64, upgrading to Win7 64 on launch).

You mentioned a good mid-range card, but what would you (or anyone) consider the "best" PCIe TV tuner (under $200)?

That info is outdated according to everything recent I have read. Hauppauge is terrible CURRENTLY. So shut your face and step aboard to 2009 and PCIe. Here's just 2 sequential, random reviews from newegg on a $120 Hauppauge PCIe card:

WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!

Pros: It can pick up a tv signal.

Cons: If you plan to use this with Cable to get a HD signal don't waste your time, even with an HD Cable signal in it will only display standard definition. (COMCAST PORTLAND OREGON)

Other Thoughts: Hauppage - you should be ashamed!

Never buy hauppague again

Pros: None

Cons: Hauppague needs to get their act together and figure out hot to make a dual tuner which can get ClearQAM.
No advantage over HVR1600 for the normal user and secoundary to other cards

Other Thoughts: If you are trying to get HD channels through ClearQAM dont buy this card. get an avermedia.

Well, the ASUS I linked above is the highest priced of the bunch @ newegg, so I think that's probably fine for home use. Just like gamers don't need Lavry audio converters and Gordon or Neve mic preamps for their Chinese (or whatever) Klipsch speakers and ventrilo.
