Windows 95 requirements

In our plant operations we use 2 PC's for operational control. Our control software vender is Wonderware and our present programming requirements are only supported by Windows 95 O/S. Recommended machine requirements are PII, 300mhz, 128MB ram and a minimum of 500MB HD. I understand all of these requirements but am having a problem locating an acceptable replacements for these machines. Old used trash is easily found but is not acceptable. My question is what is the best way to replace these machines with reliable equipment without all out upgrades to expensivre software revisions that offer me nothing more than more expense.

Thats recommended specs right? maybe a nice 800mhz Duron with 128mb sdram/ddram on a stable chipset, with a 20GB drive?

I would look for an older system, maybe a dell/gateway, because you will have a hard time finding drivers for windows 95. There won't be a sound card correct? Thats ones less driver.

It should run and install fine, as long as you get a good/stabvle chipset...maybe an Nvidia or SIS or Intel...probably not VIA,...

Refurb Dell
This one has a BX chipset and 512mb Ram,
scsi hard drive.
I haven't bought anything from them though.
Wish it was more like $149

Thanks, The Dell refurbished may be just the ticket. Is there any trick to installing W95 on one of these machines. Insert and install I assume. The office has numerous old copies of W95 laying around. What are my chances of making W98 work?

Call the equipment manufacture. I have several W95 computers on instruments and they will only work for 95, no new drivers etc. When you only sell a few controles, they don't write new software for new versions on Windows. R
