Windows can be so wierd sometimes

Here's a question that I hope someone can answer.

When I go to my network connections folder and double click on my LAN connection, it should display the status of my connection. It doesn't do anything. When i right click my LAN connection and select status it does nothing. The only ways I can see my network status is by enabling the tray icon and clicking that, or by enabling the common tasks view in tools > folder options.

I just want to be able to double click and get my network info. Oh by the way, one computer that I have it works on all the time, and on this one it worked 5 secs ago, but not anymore.

Arghh. I wanna make this permanent.

there isnt really enough information at this point to do more than speculate, and it sounds like all you really want to do is complain anyways but...

My guess would be that either there is some application/process running that is interfering with the normal operation of the network status dialog or the dialog is appearing but it's just appearing somewhere you cannot see it (i.e. behind the active window).

I've seen this happen before when the drivers have their own utility to show this type of information. Older 3Com utilities used to do this for back when I used it on Win 2k gold. Once I removed the utility I never had a problem anymore.

My guess is like Spyordie said. Something is interfering with the dialog box.

But it shows when i click the little icon in the sys tray... every single time. its not like that with the other icon.
