While exploring a folder that contains images, jpgs, gifs, etc, And it is set for View as Web Page, it does not display a preview of the image on the left side of folder.
I find that I have this problem, probably after installing Corel Draw 8, since it seems to have hijacked my file associations.
I have looked at the Registry Keys for these file types, .BMP, .GIF, .JPEG, .JPG, .PNG, and .WMF (wmf is the only file extension that corel draw did not hijack).
For all of them except .BMP, the entries are Exactly as they should be in the cut/paste of the related Microsoft article below.
For .BMP, the Shell Ex value is as it should be, but there is also something called 'Shell New' listed below Shell Ex, but it has as default value - no value set, and Null File on the line below default.

It appears that the related article may not be related to my problem??
This problem seems to have appeared just recently, possibly after I finally installed the full pack of my Corel draw stuff. (dream 3d, photo-paint, and draw).
If I uninstall the whole bit of corel, would this re-set my file associations to what they were before?, Or just leave a bigger mess?

Any help is much appreciated.

I would try just ressting the file assioations before I did the unistall.

I had a similar problem with Netscape 6.0 when it Hijacked the jpg extension.

I just removed the extension and then set it to paint like I wanted.

Unsure if this would correct your problem however. One of the ting I really like about XP is that you can view pics as thumpnails when browsing through files.

Update - I did a google search and found a little program called FixPix.ini that reset my file associations to windows default (which is really nice, now the gif & jpg open in IE and not launch one of my big graphics progs - I'll start them if I need them).
However, while this .ini file did reset my file assoc, it did NOT do the other thing it should have, and that is restore the preview function. I tried to right click a desktop file full of images, and checked the 'thumbnail' box. This placed a file called desktop.ini inside the image files on desktop, but still did NOT allow for a preview image. On that file, under the View menu, if I tried to click Thumbnails, it de-selected Web page view, and either way, NO preview image. Besides, I did not have to hassle with thumbnail crap before this problem, all I ever had to do was click Web page view, then click on an image, and there was it's preview in left side of file.

I want my preview images back. Any ideas???
