Windows XP Hangs @ 100%

It's quite odd throughout the occurance, despite the fact that i've disabled additional services, only have to two applications within startup, and Windows XP set at it's best preformance, applications hang leaveing my pc freezing at 100%! After the frooze has stopped and I can get back to my work it won't let me type and when I left click icons it displays the properties instead. Now before you assume it's a virus or worm, it's not which I insure you positively... Even on a fresh format it does the same thing!.... I assume it has something to do with my hardware since, so heres a listing of hardware within my pc:

I still think it is a virus. Have you done windows updates and do you have a up to date virus program installed?

IS there any specific service or prog that uses up the cpu resources? Try This program to get a more accurate and detailed view of your running appz, that might help. I had a similar problem and later found out a service called DNS CLIENT was hanging my system, I disabled it via services.msc but I don't know if you have the same problem
