I downloaded DirectX 9.0c straight from Microsoft's site, and when I try to install it, it starts the installation, but then gives me an error message that is doesn't have Microsoft's logo (signature), and so it won't install. When I've installed other things, there's an option to continue anyway. This time, the only option is to stop the installation. It won't let me continue. Anyone have any ideas?
Then a separate problem is sometimes on Windows startup, after it goes from the Welcome screen to the desktop, it will load the background, but then there's no icons, start menu, or task bar. I can access the task manager thru ctrl-alt-del, but I can't do anything else. I can't even right click on the background. Anyone else ever encounter this?
