so last nite my computer was functioning properly, this morning however when i boot up the computer, windows XP would not start up, instead, it gives a message saying that one or more file required for start up is missing. i decided to boot up from windows XP cd and run check disk. check disk detected bad sectors and was able to repair it. after repair, i ran check disk again just to be sure and found no further problem. this time, windows XP manage to boot up properly and i manage to log into windows. however, this is where problem crops up again. i'm stuck in my desktop. so the computer only show my wallpaper and the mouse cursor. the usual desktop icons and taskbar do not appear. i tried running task manager and it comes up. i checked the processess tab and noticed there are fewer items. tried safeboot and the same thing happened. tried system restore and it doesn't work either. what seems to be the problem???
