I'm sure this is an old thread, but here goes:
I got a new WindowsXP box. AMD1900+, Radeon8500, 512RAM, Audigy Gamer sound card, SOYO Dragon+ MB, 360W power supply, 2 x IBM 7200rpm 60GB drives, CDRW, 52XCD, zip, floppy...
It works great. Except for a couple of problems with games that don't support XP (Baldur's Gate2, understandable), and this other problem... everytime I boot up, it tells me that it recovered from a serious error. I've reported the error several times, and I always get pointed to the same Knowledge Base article that talks about turning off third party filters (like antivirus) and DRIVERS.
It must be a driver issue, because I don't have an antivirus program installed. When I look through my list of hardware in the device manager, and I look at drivers, everything has a Microsoft certified driver. I've gone to the Windows Update section, and installed all the critical and driver updates. I started getting the message before I installed my DSL, so it can't be that. How do I find out what driver is causing the problem?
