winter gloves

its starting to get cold and I'm wanting to get some good gloves for the winter. I ride a bicycle a lot so I need something that won't just fall apart on me. Rain proof would be nice too. Also, leather.

Anyone here wear gloves a lot?

Back when I lived in the great white north and rode my bike all winter I bought a pair of full leather work gloves with a very thin lining and sno-sealed them until they were absolutely waterproof. They worked great. The key is to keep your core warm and your core will keep your hands warm so the gloves don't need to be well insulated, they just need to block wind, rain, and snow and to keep your fingers from sticking to your handle bars.

this. I ski about 100 days a year and a cheap pair of hardware store leather gloves is as good as anything out there.

Military leather shells with the heavy weight wool liners.

Silk liners. Very thin so you don't even feel the added thickness, and they wick away moisture. My biggest problem has always been sweating hands getting my gloves wet (and hence eliminating their warming abilities), and this solves that problem.
