What are your needs? Do you absolutely *need* the better security, or the improved connectivity that you get with Pro? Is it worth the extra $$? According to your sig, you've already got XP (though don't know which one... so assume home) - is there something you're needing that you don't have?
I'd say for most people they are equivalent. I work with both everyday and really have a hard time seeing if there is any difference. Why? Since the major change is some extra security features that most users don't need or use.
I use Home after using Professional for awhile. It felt I was using a broken, crippled version of WinXP. If you've never been spoiled by XP Pro, then Home might be ok.
