wireless network for laptop question

I have a laptop (ultraportible) but it has not wireless network card built in. I was wondering if anyone know whether it's a better idea to get a PCMCIA wireless card or a USB wireless adaptor (the tiny ones that look like flash drives).

I figure the usb one draws less current but is not going to have as good a range as the PCMCIA one.

Is this in fact the case? Any thoughts / opinions on the difference between the two?

I agree with JackMDS: I love my D-Link Wireless PCMCIA Card in my Toshiba laptop as it gives me 22 MBS sec with a the D-Link Wireless 802.11b router always. I have learned to make sure to stay with the same vendor for all wireless hardware.

I love the USB adapters mainly because of the convenience factor. USB you can connect to a desktop or a laptop. PCMCIA your stuck with only using it on a laptop --- stating the obvious.

PCMCIA cards can be used in desktops. Provided u have an adapter installed on your desktop pci slot.
PCMCIA is better by far and my dlink card doesn't noticabley effct battery life
