wireless- wired and annoyed

Ok... searched and searched and still cannot figure this out.
Google/ variouse forums and vendor websites...
I am a little rusty with the Networking side but still i cant figure this out!!!

I am trying to file and print share between my laptop and my PC:

Laptop xp sp2, wireless pc card.
Desktop xp sp2, wired to di-524 router [wired and wireless model]

internet is DSL, Qwest... through a Actiontec 701-wg
have the internet working throught the dlink and the actiontec as this guide directs router behind router configit works like a charm for WAN.

But I cannot connect the two computers! I have file and printer sharing on both machines and drives shared.. both have the same group name and both are set to obtain an IP auto...they are both connected to the router as they can both access the WAN... I have the wireless SSID and channel set up correctly in the Dlink.... wireless is disabled on the actiontec.
I am not sure what other details i need to offer to get somew direction on this and i am clueless as to making it work.
PC can see itself in the view workgroup computers.. but the laptop cannot see itself in its workgroup computers page.
also i have disabled the internal 10/100 port on the laptop... have tried it both ways...um i dunno what else..

How does that fall in with the set up i did with the router behind the router from portforwarding? router guide

I wonder if i should just break out the drill and go for the wired network for my laptop as it is in a static no battery set up anyways...

Are you running a firewall other than XP's firewall? If you are, run the network wizard to allow connections between computers.

On the laptop, go to network connections or network places and re-run the "setup a small home or office network" wizard.
When it asks you about the type of setup, choose "other" and then the very first one "my pc connects to the internet through a network hub, other pc's in my network do the same"
Restart both and good luck!
