wireshark to optimize/troubleshoot wifi?

can wireshark be used to optimize wifi networks? if so, how?
after googling, all i can find about wireshark and wifi are about hacking and sniffing for pw. i have no interest in hacking. i just want to know how to optimize the wifi network for better speed. thanks!

What kind of network are we looking at? Home network? Office network?

Wireshark is a powerful tool, but you might be barking up the wrong tree. Protocol analysis is unnecessary for 99.9% of users, and in the case of a wireless network, I could only see it being used to identify sources of unwanted traffic on a network.

If you're having problems with wireless connections cutting out/dropping then you're looking at a physical problem which Wireshark won't be able to help you with. In this case you're looking at doing a wireless site survey, but again it's probably unnecessary for a home network.

Would wireshark even capture frames with a bad CRC, or even runts for that matter?, or would they simply be dropped in the LLC sub-layer?

it is for a company. 3 fl building.
i think i found the answer. looks like wireshark can report back signal strength and noise floor. so that's useful to go with site survey.
