Blizzard dramatically underestimated their sales projections for the game. Its selling out everywhere... and fast.

Its very likely it will dethrone lineage as the #1 MMORPG after a few expansions. The warcraft title and attractiveness to other players in the genre is drawing an enormous amount of attention tword the game.

and yes, production has stopped until they finish the server "issues"

they will likely just split the overpopulated servers and get more up and running. Only high population servers seem to be having issues.

Mal'Ganis, my server, is one of the "moderate" servers at peak times, and sees no issues at all, with login or lag.

My server is low or medium pop and has occasional problems. I think it's just worse on high pop servers, and some servers don't have it at all. For me the symptom is 2-3 minute wait times when sending mail, game freezes (server side) for 30 seconds or more, etc. And yes, it's server side game freezes, because there is no catch up afterwards, and I'm able to still send and receive guild messages.

The servers were really messed up last night, I logged out to go eat dinner for 20 minutes, and had to wait in a Que line of about 800 people trying to log back in. It took me an hour and a half to log back in to my server.

What server are you?
I'm on Icecrown. When I tried to login last night the wait was about 45 minutes. Excellent!

I'm on Silver hand, and go figure on my birthday my server goes down... excellent..
