Again, fast moving zombies...that's just ridiculous.
I just bought the book today.
I've been meaning to pick it up at the library, but I've been reading a few other books that have piqued my interest. Finally decided it was time to read this book (about to wrap up Neuromancer), and went ahead and bought it instead.
Same. 28 Days/Weeks zombies were awesome.
Wikipedia said:In May 2012, it was reported that production would return to Budapest for seven weeks of additional shooting.[48] The following month, screenwriter Damon Lindelof was hired to rewrite the film's third act with reshoots scheduled to begin in September or October 2012.[49] However Lindelof, who also reworked Prometheus and co-wrote Star Trek Into Darkness, did not have time to script the new ending and in July 2012, Paramount hired Lindelof's Lost partner, Drew Goddard.[50] Lindelof explained there were inefficiencies in the script in relation to the shooting, which started before the script was finalized thus making the ending "abrupt and incoherent" and was missing a large chunk of footage. Lindelof presented two options to executives, who ultimately choose to shoot 30 to 40 minutes of additional footage to make a coherent ending. The re-shoots coupled with other overages caused the budget to balloon to around $200 million, which shocked Paramount president Marc Evans.[1]
In March 2013, it was reported that Paramount changed a scene in the film in which the characters speculate that the zombie outbreak originated in mainland China in hopes of landing a distribution deal in the country.[51] It was also revealed that several of the scenes shot in Budapest were dropped from the final cut in order to water down the film's political undertones, and steer it towards a more generally friendly summer blockbuster.[52]

You better get to reading the book. That way when you hear other people talking about the movie you can proudly interject into the conversation a statement of you reading the book. You can then ask the others participating in the conversation if they have also read the book. If the answer is no, display a smirk and then go into the differences between what is shown in trailers to what is in the book. It's your job to educate these people and let them know you are an expert on the source material, not them.
I remember seeing the trailer back in November and thinking I should read the book before the movie came out. A friend and I were discussing Zombies and WWZ was brought up which reminded me about the book. I just picked up the Audiobook and I like it so far, so I did more research on the movie.
Oh. My. God. This move has FAIL written all over it:
Just when I thought Hollywood could be any dumber, they go do something like this, AND TOTALLY NOT REDEEM THEMSELVES.Originally Posted by Wikipedia

If anything can finally kill of the zombie movie its this one.
It'll be a fun movie though, I would be absolutely shocked if they did such a bad job that it doesn't end up being a worthwhile watch. But I'm expecting it to completely walk all over the source material in order to appeal to more people (especially foreign nations). After hearing the cost, I'd be shocked if it's not changed as much as I expect. They don't want to risk that kind of money being politically "incorrect" - even if it's accurate.
Seems way different than the book. It's still a zombie movie though. Like pizza, I'd still eat it even if it was mediocre.

Hollywood needs to STOP GIVING LINDELOF WORK!
I have a feeling World War Z will make After Earth look like The Happening.
.... it's about some depth to otherwise very enjoyable popcorn-ready, entertainment,....
...Personally, I enjoy his touch to cinema.
Then you should enjoy Lindelof's masterpiece:

lol:hmm:
So, I've been doing this.
You hate me, don't you? :awe:

I consider the original, abridged version of the Audiobook to basically be the WWZ film. There were great actors reading as each character and it was cut down to about six hours. I don't think it would get better than this with the abridged source material unless it were an HBO miniseries like dr150 suggested.
