Since it only took about 1 minute to digest that review, I've only wasted 1 minute of my life.

After seeing the benchmark charts..i clicked the next button and was at the end... is there more? or did that review jus plain suck? He talked about high resolutions, i dont consider 1280x1024 that high... what about 1600X1200? Check out the TomsHardware Review if you want a real thorough reveiw...

He said his monitor doesn't go past 1280x1024... That man should not be doing reviews period.

The message is clear... SLI has failed.

What I STILL wanna see is some tests done at 2048x1536. Do the drivers not support that in SLI or something?? Or do most reviewers not have that resolution capability with their monitors? Or is it that most games don't support that res? Or what???

Few games support that res, and very few monitors would actually be able to display that res without causing eye strain (e.g. you'd need a high end 21" CRT to get that res at 85Hz and a very, very high end LCD such as the 30" cinema display to get a true 2048x1536 image). It would make for some interesting tests for sure, but until display technology reaches that res at a reasonable price most game devs won't put in the time to make games which will run out of the box (e.g. no config editing) at that res and thereby few reviewers will review games at that res.

How did some guy with a crap monitor like that get his hands on an SLI setup?

And what's the point of even RUNNING an SLI setup at 1280x1024? He may as well just be running a single 6800U SLI'ed to a piece of cardboard for all the difference he'll notice.

I especially liked his "What is it" opening line:

A lot of people have no idea what SLI is, or what it does

While he may know what SLI is and what it does, he has absolutely no idea of "when you actually need it".

I have been using a new SLI system really hard the last few months and I have no complaints I love it. I have 2 Gigabyte 6600gts on a Gigabyte noforce4 SLI motherboard with a 3000 AMD 64 and a set of Corsair 512 TWINX DDR RAM and it runs sweetly I am still doing the benchmarks coz I am not able to it with the 6800's yet But I think it has not failed I have done everything on them from playing ff11 too doom 3 to even make some of my own games with them. I think it is a winning combo an all gigabyte system
The monitors I am using as of now are not top of the line but I can still run it at a higher resolution than what he used. I hope to soon replace the monitors permanently with a set of two Samsung 26? Premium Series TV?s as they are only 700 dollars each and have DVI inputs and Optical audio out puts. I am not a fan of anything LCD or Plasma so I will never use them for I think the technology is cheap. Also it is way too over priced. For the coast of a decent sized LCD system I would just rather put up a Home Projection system that would only coast about 1300 dollars to 2000 dollars for about a 92? system that will blow you away. LCD systems only get worse quality picture the bigger the screen size.

Question what is better Component Video or DVI the Samsung has for both and I can get the DVI to component video adapters.

It looks like an eight year old wrote that.

"SLI requires a very powerful CPU to make it worthwhile, so I would recommend not going with SLI unless you've already maxed out your CPU, so get an FX-55 or 4000+ if you want SLI."

LOL

So far the only down side I can see in the whole Sli Issue is that it is almost impossible to get a straight answer when I ask can it support up to four monitors Because I think it is theoretically possible and shoud be doable but not Asus Gigabyte or BFG have been able to give me a good response can anyone help me please.

Yes, but you wouldn't be able to run the cards in SLI. Each card would be seperate ,like running an AGP card and an old PCI card.

So is it useless to max out my SLI if my monitor is not maxed out?
